steroid cycles
What are steroid cycles and why are they so important
For sure, anybody who is a big fan of athletic events must have noticed how sports players of today are a huge improvement as compared to athletes of yesteryear. Take for example the NBA, back in the 70’s, players used to be lean and lanky, but fast forwards to year 2008, and you see mean muscle mass, added agility, and increased speed on their part. This observation holds true in other leagues like the NFL, MLB, and NHL.
These improved skills and body features of athletes are probably accredited to the use of anabolic steroids and steroid cycles. Here are first some brief background info on anabolic steroids. They are designed much like that of androgens, which are male reproductive hormones. They act on the body’s cells, making them metabolize more efficiently, so the body gets more energy. Also, it makes muscle growth and cell division more rapid, so muscle mass is gained at a faster rate as compared to weight lifting alone.
Steroid usage, if not done in a proper manner, can result into various side effects. These adverse effects are different from men and women who use the performance enhancing drug. For the men, they may experience balding, gynecomastia or enlargement of the breasts as well as stomach upset with nausea. For women, they may also be prone to hair loss, and possible overgrowth of facial hair.
Many professional athletes and body building fanatics use steroid cycles to prevent the added side effects and to make the drugs work more effectively. If these cycles are done properly, usually under the supervision of a physician, one can achieve the optimum benefits of steroid use. Abuse the use of the drug, and you can risk yourself of getting liver damage, heart disease, and hormonal disorders.
Steroid cycles usually involve combining one or more varieties of steroids and using them in periods anywhere from six weeks to 20 weeks or more. For example, in the first six weeks, a specific steroid is injected on a regular basis. After that cycle, he takes in oral steroids and injects another type of steroid. Consult with your doctor to learn more about how to use these cycles properly.
